The Bible in Matthew 1:21 says: “Jesus, will save His people from their sins.”
On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked the United States. In New York, over 400 emergency workers died as they attempted to rescue people and fight fires. They gave up their own lives to rescue others. In addition, during amazing military operations, soldiers have risked their own lives to rescue others.
However, these rescues were only of a temporary nature. Those rescued all eventually died. There is One Rescuer who rescues men so that they will never die again. This Rescuer, is THE Saviour Jesus Christ. He rescues from spiritual death all who put their trust in Him.
Physical death is the separation of the soul from the body. Spiritual death is the “eternal separation” of the soul from a LOVING God. His followers die physically, but they never die spiritually. Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 11:25).
If we fail to put our trust in Him to rescue us, He will exclude us from His presence. Jesus said: “Every one who acknowledges Me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God” (Luke 12:8-9).
However, this is not His will. The Bible says: God “desires all men to be saved” (I Timothy 2:4).
Unfortunately, there are many who do not wish to be rescued. They would rather be masters of their lives than turn to Jesus for help. But for those who wish to be rescued for ETERNITY, they need only follow Jesus. He delivers men from despair and gives them hope. He delivers men from sin and gives them a new nature. He delivers men from death and gives them eternal life. This is the greatest rescue of all, by the only one who could rescue us – Jesus Christ.
May you this Easter, receive God’s revelation of how you can Live for Eternity.
